Axsys has not only proven and extensively tested our tooling but we can also help fine tune your machining templates to provide optimal machining times, longest wear and the best blend between surface finish and short cycle times.

A new concept END MILL designed and processed to provide extended wear and high strength in high-speed machining applications of hard materials up to HRc70 such as Titanium, Stainless Steel & Cobalt Chrome.


Together, titanium and silicon (TiSi) make an outstanding team for nitride hard material coatings. Silicon guarantees excellent resistance to oxidation while the presence of titanium ensures particularly hard coatings. When combined, the two elements are wear resistant even at very high temperatures.

TiSiN-coated tools are extremely wear-resistant and permit high machining speeds. Machining operations without the use of coolants also pose no problem. Even tough materials such as nickel-based alloys and titanium-based materials are easy to machine using titanium-silicon nitride-coated tools.

Why Use Diamond Coated Tools


Crystalline diamond coating can increase tool life 10 to 20 times (or more) over uncoated tools with faster material removal, more reliable unattended high precision machining and reduced use of coolants.

Imporved Cutting Tool Peformance


Crystalline diamond coating has all of the properties of natural diamond including extremely high mechanical hardness, strength, and thermal conductivity, resistance to chemical corrosion and a very low coefficient of friction.All of these properties contribute to the capability of diamond to improve tool performance by decreasing the number of chipped units, increasing the number of units per tool yield and decreasing overall cycle times per unit.

Crystalline Diamond (CVC) vs Diamond-like Coating (DLC)


Crystalline diamond has all of the properties of natural diamond including extremely high hardness strength, thermal conductivity and resistance to chemical corrosion in addition to a low coefficient of friction. Diamond like coatings (DLC's) consist of amorphous carbon with about one-half the hardness of crystalline diamond and provide much less tool life in cutting hard abrasive materials.
